Art Majors from Augusta University’s Capstone Class
Open Public Art Exhibitions across the Region
from March through May, 2017
Augusta University’s art majors, in the final capstone class of their curriculum, are just weeks away from earning their Bachelor of Fine Art and Bachelor of Art degrees. Their last college requirements include presenting exhibitions of their artwork and giving public artists’ talks. A full schedule of events is below.
Exhibitions will feature the students’ artistic research as they position themselves as emerging artists. Their education has stressed mastery of traditional skills as well as development of distinctive aesthetic approaches, along with an awareness of their position within the contemporary art world. Media presented will include painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, photography, drawing, and installation. Each venue will host a public reception with the artists present. The semester’s grand finale is a group show with works by every artist in the capstone class at the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art in Buckhead, GA. Entry fee is $3-5 for this show; all other events are free. All are open to the public. See full schedule below. For more information, contact the Dept. of Art, Augusta University, at 706-667-4888.
